All along the coastline of the west coast of the Alentejo and Algarve there's incredible potential for uncrowded quality surf spots.The south coast offers perfect shelter with offshore winds and gentler waves on bigger swells.

The northern provinces of Minho and Douro have largely skipped the attention of visiting surfers, despite having a super-consistent stretch of coast that grabs the maximum from any swell direction.

South Portugal itinerary

Starting from Sines, this flexible itinerary follows the Costa Vicentina route through Porto Covo, Aljezur, Vila do Bispo before turning the corner of Portugal and hitting the famous waves of Sagres and ending in Lagos. This itinerary will start either in Sines or Lagos, depending on the starting dates.

North Portugal itinerary

Starting from Maceda, this flexible itinerary follows the uncrowded north of Portugal, heading to Póvoa de Varzim, a visit of beautiful Porto, the incredible surf spots and waterfalls around Viana do Castelo and ending in Vila Praia de Âncora. This itinerary will start either in Maceda or Vila Praia de Âncora, depending on the starting dates.

Surf Lessons or Surf guiding?

Surfers of different levels will be roadtripping together during this week. Want to learn how to surf? You'll join surf lessons, with all material included. More intermediate or advanced? Bring or rent a surfboard and get expert guiding to the best spots of north or south Portugal.

Your stay in the Portugal Road Trip

You will spend the week in a Mercedes truck with a special system that allows the walls and the ceiling to expand upwards, thus transforming the truck into a double-decker hotel on wheels.Daniela and Eduardo be your hosts and surf guides for the week. They love surfing and traveling with their Surf Truck... and you will love it too!

On the top floor of the truck you find the rooms: 4 shared double rooms with bunk bed, and 1 private double room with a double bed. We recommend you the private double room if you're traveling with a partner. Every room comes with air conditioning and a locker.

On the bottom floor you find a living room with couches and a table (and a projector to check the surf footage in the evening!). The kitchen is fully equipped and you can cook your own meals. Also on the bottom floor, there is a toilet and – in the room next to it – a bathroom with a nice warm shower.

On the outside terrace you can chill on the bean bags, relax and enjoy beautiful sunsets.
