Your stay in Popoyo Surf House
The Double Queen room offers two queen-size beds, air conditioning, ceiling fan and safe, as well as a terrace with pool view. For groups or families, the Quadruple room has four single beds, closets, storage space and its own terrace overlooking the pool.
Between sessions in the water or on the mat, you can relax by the pool, rest in a hammock or enjoy the calm of the yoga shala. The kitchen serves three plant-based meals a day, made from regional produce, with fish offered a few times a week. Every dish is prepared with care, healthy, balanced and full of flavor.
The Surf & Yoga House Popoyo is nestled steps away from sandy beaches, deep jungle and the Pacific Ocean, creating the perfect atmosphere for surfing, yoga and relaxation. Just 500 meters from Popoyo town, this lodge combines comfort, nature and community, welcoming guests of all levels and ages.
This surf house has different room types for your stay. Double rooms come with a queen-size or two twin beds, a private terrace and pool views, plus storage for surfboards.

If you have never surfed before or are a beginner and you want to improve your surfing with coaching, then choose the surf lessons.
If you are a more advanced surfer and want to score the best conditions for your level in Nicaragua, choose the surf guiding package.
You can choose to join the Surf & Yoga House in Popoyo for 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, or 14 nights.
You can also choose to fly into San José Airport in Costa Rica and then cross the border at Peñas Blancas and continue to Popoyo.
Traveling by bus is the most affordable choice, costing around $5. However, it requires several connections and can take a long time. Buses are often crowded and may not pick up new passengers if they’re full.
1. From Roberto Huembes Terminal in Managua, take a bus to Rivas.
2. From Rivas, catch the bus heading toward El Astillero (departing at 5:30 AM and 4:50 PM).
3. Get off at Las Salinas, then continue to Guasacate by hitchhiking or arranging a local ride.
By Taxi
A direct taxi is the quickest way to reach the surf house. The trip takes about 2 hours and usually costs around $100. We can help arrange a safe and reliable driver if needed.
By Rental Car
Having your own car gives you flexibility. Rental rates are generally $50–100 per day. A standard vehicle works on the main highways, but in the rainy season a 4x4 is strongly recommended.
Border Information:
- Costa Rica exit fee: about $10, payable at a small office or online
- Nicaragua entry fee: about $10, which includes a tourist visa (valid for 90 days for most passports)
From the Border to Popoyo:
- Taxi: roughly $50 for a direct trip
- Bus: frequent departures (every ~20 minutes) from the border to Rivas, where you can transfer to the Guasacate route described above
